“How’s she doing?” Cancer asked.
“Who?”
“Mom.”
“Oh, she’s great,” Cancer’s father said when they had
went into the car, “Since you had entered the hospital
three years ago, her legs were getting worse, but she is
much better now. No problem standing alone now.”
Cancer put on the seat belt and did not speak. He
opened the storage box in front of the passenger’s seat.
The box he put in there three years ago was still there. In
the same corner. Untouched. He reached his right hand in
for the box. The box is made out of wood and it had elegant
patterns on it. It is only a person’s palm’s size. He opened
the box.
A light shined when he opened it and he was
transferred to another world
. He thought.
In the box, there was a folded letter, a bracelet, and a
key. He remembered that he had put these objects in the
box three years ago.
The letter is pale white. The bracelet was a bunch of
tiny rocks laced together. Colourful, yet elegant. And the
key was golden, but there a little rusted on the tip.
