Rice Brown Planthopper - page 8

The author feels in the heart of hearts that his very short stay of a year at
AICRIP during 1972-73 as research assistant under Rockefeller Foundation
support, under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Freeman and observing
and understanding how a true research environment exists even under
very harsh circumstances, created a motivation and inner drive to pursue
the path of research during later period and it is also that inner drive that
is playing its role while writing this book. One may wonder to hear the
reality. By the time the author completed his M.Sc. Program in entomology
at Pant Nagar in September 1972 there was practically no job avenues
in agriculture anywhere in India. On the advice of Dr. P. K. Pathak his
teacher at Pant Nagar, the author came to AICRIP at Rajendra Nagar gave
interview with Dr. Freeman and left his home in Nellore district. After
a month a telegram came from AICRIP that he can join for a temporary
post of research assistant in entomology. He could continue only for a
year and left for joining Ph.D. Program at PAU Ludhiana with the financial
assistance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the form of
senior fellowship. Today after nearly 42 years, while writing this book the
author whole heartedly feels that the whole thing was a Divine Decision to
expose the author to the “Truth” and pave way for his future and finally
resulted in writing this book.
