Various QTLs
for
salinity
tolerance
under
hydroponic
conditions
have
been
detected
repeatedly
on
many
chromosomes
in
rice
including
1
and
6;
whilst
very
few
have
been
found
on
chromosomes
2,
3,
5,
9,
10
and
12.
(Negrão
et
al.,
2011).
Takehisa
et
al.
(2004)
found
6
QTLs
associated
with
shoot
fresh
weight
on
6
chromosomes
including
1
and
6
as
per
our
research.
Prasad
et
al.
(2000)
detected
4 QTL
for
seedling
vigor
on
chromosome
6;
and Masood
et
al.,
(2004)
identified
4
QTLs
for
dry
shoot
weight
on
chromosomes
1
(3
QTLs)
and
6
(1
QTL)
respectively
under
hydroponic
condition
at
an
EC
level
of
12
dS/m
accounting
together
for
97.9%
of
trait
variation.
Some QTL
controlling
shoot
dry weight
on
have
been
mapped
on
chromosome
6
(Koyama
et
al.,
2001; Tuan
et
al.,
2000).
The
authors
concluded
that
high
shoot
dry
weight
after
saline
stress
can
be
used
as
an
indicator
for
tolerance
to
salinity.
The
genetics
of
salt
tolerance
in
rice
for
many
traits
such
as
shoot
fresh weight
and
shoot
dry weight
have
revealed
that
tolerance
is
associated
with
polygenes
