On this basis, a multi-dimensional caregiver support mechanism covering institutions, communities and professionals, families and technical support is constructed to explore the effectiveness of stress intervention measures such as mindfulness intervention (MBI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Research has found that multi-component psychosocial interventions (especially MBI and CBT) can significantly reduce the burden on caregivers, while the effectiveness of support mechanisms is influenced by regional factors such as service accessibility. This article aims to enhance the well-being of caregivers and the quality of care through personalized support strategies and policies as well as technological integration, providing a reference for the sustainable development of the home care system. Keywords Disabled elderly people; Home care; Caregiver; Support mechanism; Stress intervention 1 Introduction The acceleration of global population aging has led to a significant increase in the number of disabled elderly people, and has also brought great pressure to medical services, families and society. The latest data shows that approximately 250 million elderly people worldwide have moderate or severe disabilities. Among people aged 60 and above, nearly half have difficulties of varying degrees in activities of daily living (Li et al., 2025). This situation has led to a rapid increase in the demand for long-term care Many non-professional family caregivers need to undertake care work almost around the clock, but have relatively limited access to social and service support. At present, the stability and service quality of family care have become important public health issues, and it is even more necessary to pay attention to the physical and mental health and overall well-being of both caregivers and the elderly being cared for. Family members, as the core force in home care for elderly people with disabilities, often bear tremendous physical and mental pressure due to their care responsibilities (Yu et al., 2025). The stress comes not only from problems such as mobility difficulties and cognitive decline of the caregiven person, but also from their own financial strain and health problems (Li et al., 2025). Long-term stress can lead to problems such as anxiety and depression in caregivers, and their needs for psychological support and skills training are often not met, ultimately affecting the health of both parties (Yang et al., 2021). This study will explore how caregivers of elderly people with disabilities who care for them at home can obtain support and design specific and applicable stress reduction programs. Analyze the main sources of caregivers' stress and the key reasons for their burden, and see if support methods such as psychological counseling and adjusting the living environment are effective. In addition, these support methods will be integrated into the complete family care plan. This study aims to meet the actual and psychological needs of the elderly living at home through reliable and effective assistance methods, provide references for relevant policies and practical work, and promote the development of home-based elderly care towards a more sustainable and personalized direction.
