The use of 5G-enabled remote care services presents a potential solution for improving healthcare accessibility in these regions. This study examines the progress, practical cases, technological advantages, and challenges of 5G-supported remote care services in rural and remote areas, offering insights for optimizing healthcare services in underserved regions. The study finds that 5G-supported remote care services significantly enhance the quality and efficiency of care for elderly individuals and patients with chronic conditions in remote areas. Through wearable devices and 5G-connected care robots, remote monitoring and consultations are enabled, allowing real-time collection of patient health data and prompt communication with healthcare providers. Case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of 5G in chronic disease management, elderly care, and emergency response, while challenges such as infrastructure costs, data privacy, and device compatibility remain. The application of 5G technology in remote care services for underserved regions shows promise in improving healthcare accessibility, enhancing care outcomes, and reducing medical costs. By integrating artificial intelligence and smart devices, remote care services can provide personalized care support, contributing to the development of a more inclusive healthcare system. These regions often face significant challenges in accessing timely and adequate healthcare due to geographical barriers and the uneven distribution of medical professionals. As a result, there is a pressing need for innovative solutions to bridge the healthcare gap and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their location, receive the care they need. Remote care services have emerged as a crucial component in improving healthcare accessibility and enhancing care efficiency. By leveraging technology, remote care services can provide medical consultations, monitoring, and even diagnostic services to patients in distant locations, thereby reducing the need for travel and enabling continuous care. The integration of remote care services is particularly beneficial for elderly patients and those with chronic conditions who require regular medical attention but may find it challenging to visit healthcare facilities frequently (Karako et al., 2020; Chai et al., 2022; Peralta-Ochoa et al., 2023). The rapid development of 5G network technology provides new opportunities for remote care services. With its high transmission speeds, ultra-low latency, and enhanced capacity, 5G technology can support a wide range of healthcare applications, from real-time remote diagnostics to telemedicine and robotic-assisted procedures. The deployment of 5G networks in rural and remote areas can significantly enhance the quality and reliability of remote care services, making advanced medical care more accessible to underserved populations (Chen et al., 2017; Chiaraviglio et al., 2017; Duan et al., 2020).
