International Journal of Clinical Case Reports 2024, Vol.14, No.6, 351-361 http://medscipublisher.com/index.php/ijccr 355 has been applied in various health management contexts. For example, TCM nutrition emphasizes the importance of the spleen-stomach system and the homology of medicine and food, providing unique dietary suggestions based on syndrome differentiation (Zhao et al., 2020). In clinical practice, TCM practitioners assess individuals' constitution types and tailor dietary recommendations accordingly. This personalized approach has been shown to improve health outcomes and enhance the effectiveness of dietary interventions (Li et al., 2019; Zhao et al., 2020). The integration of TCM dietary therapy into personalized health management represents a holistic approach that considers individual differences and promotes overall well-being. 4.3 Clinical research on TCM constitution regulation and dietary intervention Clinical research has evaluated the effects of combining TCM constitution types with dietary therapy. Studies have demonstrated that TCM constitution-based dietary interventions can lead to significant improvements in clinical parameters and TCM symptoms. For instance, a study on cardiovascular disease management found that TCM constitution-based strategies could effectively control blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health outcomes (Jiang et al., 2022; Wang et al., 2023). Additionally, research has shown that TCM dietary therapy can enhance the quality of life and reduce adverse reactions in patients undergoing conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy (Lu et al., 2019; Zhang et al., 2021). These findings underscore the potential of TCM constitution regulation and dietary intervention in achieving better clinical outcomes and advancing personalized medicine (Sun et al., 2021; Lu et al., 2021). Sun et al. (2021) highlighted the necessity of integrating both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) methods in evaluating the therapeutic effects of TCM, especially in postoperative recovery and chronic disease management. By utilizing large-scale, multi-center, disease-specific databases, researchers can better understand the clinical efficacy of TCM (Figure 2). This approach not only addresses the shortcomings of traditional studies, such as insufficient follow-up and fragmented data, but also provides strong evidence to support personalized treatments in areas like dietary interventions and constitution adjustment. 5 Technological Integration of TCM Constitution Identification and Modern Dietary Therapy 5.1 AI-based constitution identification technologies The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) constitution identification has significantly enhanced the accuracy and reliability of constitution analysis. AI technologies, particularly machine learning and big data analytics, have been employed to digitize and standardize TCM diagnostic methods, which traditionally rely on subjective assessments (Chen and Yu, 2024). This shift towards a more quantitative and objective approach has improved the consistency of diagnosis among TCM practitioners and facilitated the development of evidence-based TCM practices. For instance, AI-assisted TCM diagnosis leverages digital data collected by modern electronic instruments, making the diagnostic process more precise and reproducible (Wang et al., 2021; Zhang et al., 2023). Furthermore, AI can analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns and correlations that may not be evident through traditional methods, thereby enhancing the understanding of constitution-syndrome relationships and optimizing TCM formulae (Wang et al., 2021). 5.2 IoT and personalized diet recommendation systems The Internet of Things (IoT) plays a crucial role in the development of smart health management systems that support personalized dietary therapy based on TCM constitution identification. IoT-enabled devices can continuously monitor an individual's health parameters and environmental factors, providing real-time data that can be used to tailor dietary recommendations. These smart systems integrate TCM principles with modern health monitoring technologies to offer personalized dietary advice that aligns with an individual's unique constitution and health status. For example, a randomized trial demonstrated the effectiveness of a TCM constitution-based dietary intervention in managing hypertension, highlighting the potential of personalized dietary therapy in improving clinical outcomes (Wang et al., 2023). By leveraging IoT, these systems can provide dynamic and adaptive dietary recommendations, ensuring that individuals receive the most appropriate guidance for their specific health needs.
