These systems enable medical staff to adjust care plans conveniently and promptly, and also detect complications as early as possible. Some patients will receive comprehensive rehabilitation treatment, such as the seven-step swelling reduction method, core and breathing training, and functional assistance methods, etc. Patients who have long been troubled by lymphedema saw a significant reduction in arm circumference after treatment, more flexible joint movement, stronger muscles, and a considerable improvement in mood (Sui et al., 2023). Overall, the combination of personalized care, digital follow-up and multidisciplinary collaboration is of great help in the prevention and management of lymphedema, and can help patients achieve long-term rehabilitation and better rehabilitation effects (Yang et al., 2023; Cano-Lallave et al., 2025). 7 Core Conclusions of Lymphedema Nursing Research 7.1 Advantages and limitations of nursing intervention measures Lymphedema of the ipsiateral upper limb that occurs after breast cancer surgery usually improves significantly after nursing intervention. These intervention methods have shown remarkable effects in reducing the incidence rate, improving arm function and enhancing the quality of life. Many scientifically based measures - such as health science popularization, exercise programs, anti-swelling treatments and digital health support - can have a positive effect on arm circumference size, self-care ability and daily activity performance (Rodrigues et al., 2023; Alkilil et al., 2025; Jahan et al., 2025). Especially, team intervention methods with high frequency and tailored to individual circumstances (such as combining digital platforms or home follow-on) often make patients more cooperative and offer higher cost-effectiveness. However, in practical applications, there are still many difficulties. Not all patients can conveniently access professional care or digital resources. Different economic conditions and social environments will affect the enthusiasm and effect of patients' participation in intervention (Yao et al., 2025). Meanwhile, some studies have problems such as small sample size, short follow-up period or lack of a unified protocol. These deficiencies will affect the credibility and generalization value of the research results (Alkilil et al., 2025). In addition, the patient's own willingness to cooperate, whether they have other diseases, and changes in the actual medical environment will all have an impact on the intervention effect. To verify the role of new technologies such as virtual reality and remote rehabilitation in prevention and treatment, more high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed (Chen et al., 2024; Mohammad and Ahmad, 2025). 7.2 The practical significance of rehabilitation pathway management Rehabilitation pathway management can provide breast cancer survivors with organized, long-term and personalized care plans, helping them better prevent lymphedema. This rehabilitation approach integrates regular physical examinations, exclusive exercise programs and timely treatment to ensure that patients receive comprehensive support throughout the rehabilitation process (Wu et al., 2025). In this way, abnormalities can be detected earlier, medical resources can be used more scientifically, communication and cooperation among medical staff, patients and their families can be enhanced, and the overall rehabilitation effect and the medical experience of patients can be improved (Yang et al., 2023). Under the guidance of the rehabilitation path, the patient's arm function will improve significantly, swelling will be reduced, and they can also do preventive work more seriously.
