2 Discussion
Herpes zoster infections (HZIs) or, shingles are unilateral eruptions caused by the re-activation of varicella zoster
virus (VZV) showing dermatomal distribution. It is a DNA virus with the primary infection caused being
chickenpox and recurrent infection resulting in herpes zoster infections (HZIs) (Katz et al., 1989). The virus after
the primary infection may remain in a dormant state in the body, usually, in the dorsal root ganglion of peripheral
