4 Conclusion
Four strains of bacteria have been isolated from brackish water and identified by the Vitek II system. The ability
of these strains to uptake/degradation crude oil has been exploited. There is a fluctuation in their abilities to
degrade hydrocarbon, this is may be related to the types of bacteria and type of mechanisms which used to
degrade crude oil.
