Extraction and analysis of oxyfluorfen
50 g of turmeric rhizome (after cutting into very small
pieces) from each replication was taken in a
homogenizer and was grinded into small pieces.
Similarly the soil samples were homogenized and 50 g
was weighed. Oxyfluorfen residue was extracted using
acetone by shaking for two hours in a reciprocating
shaker and the extract was filtered and evaporated at
40
o
C using rotary vaccum evaporator to about 10 ml.
The concentrated extract was transferred to a glass
column filled with anhydrous sodium sulfate and
activated charcoal and eluted with 100 ml of acetone.
Eluted lower layer was concentrated on rotary vacuum
evaporator at 60
o
C to moistened level and volume was
made to approximately 2 ml using acetone for GC
analysis.

Extraction and analysis of oxadiargyl
The representative turmeric rhizome (5 g) and soil (10 g)
samples were weighed and blended separately. The
samples were transferred to a 50 ml centrifuge tube and
added with 4 g MgSO
4
, 1 g NaCl and 15 ml acetonitrile.
Immediately the sample mixture was vigorously shaken
for 1 min and then centrifuged at 2000 RPM for 5 min.
A portion (5 ml) of the supernatant was transferred to a
flask and concentrated to near dryness then blowed to
dry with rotary vacuum evaporator at 60°C to
moistened level. The residue was re-dissolved in ethyl
acetate for GC injection.
